ZKanji offers a convenient, fast and easy way to learn Japanese or to translate different words between English and Japanese, and many interesting features for those who are willing to explore the Japanese culture.
ZKanji features a comprehensive interface, which might confuse the newbie computer user. Yes, it is a tool that requires at least medium computer skills, but if you are ready to accept the challenge of a foreign language, that shouldn't be a problem.
ZKanji is a fully customizable application, allowing you to perform any necessary adjustment, in order to have a comfortable learning experience.
First of all, this software allows you to filter kanji characters by radical, radical at position, parts, readings, meanings, SKIP-code, Four Corner Code (with visual selection) and their numerical codes in the most known dictionaries. (using KANJIDIC). One you find what you were looking for, you can easily send it to clipboard, copy, append, view its writing method or add it your own group or dictionary.
You have the possibility to translate different words from English to Japanese and vice versa and add custom meanings for kanji too. ZKanji comes with a rich words database, but you can always import or export dictionaries or user groups.
When you want to verify your learning progress, take a test and see if and where you have to insist more. The test may include word translations or, after you see how a Japanese word or character is written, you can draw your own words, in order to study this part too.
