The sky is filled with menacing clouds and you haven't packed an umbrella. If the setting is all too familiar, here is an application designed to prevent such happenings.
WetSock is a cool application that provides the weather forecast in a convenient and unobtrusive manner right on the desktop. You can add multiple locations from across the world and have them displayed in the system tray with relevant icons. With WetSock, weather won't be playing any more cruel tricks on you.
The application works by gathering data from weather stations around the world via the Internet. So you can reliably use it before planning your next holiday, outdoor activities and pretty much on a daily basis.
Using WetSock is quite easy: users are welcomed by a wizard straight after installation facilitating the addition of locations. The familiar looking interface provides the ability to select from a list grouped up in continents and their respective countries and cities. Alternatively if your PC has any GPS capabilities, you can do this automatically. Note that in the registered version you will be able to add as many locations as you wish.
For a particular city, WetSock displays the current temperature, humidity, dew point, wind, visibility, barometer, location coordinates and cloud cover. Sky conditions, precipitation and the time the data was gathered is also available. WetSock supports both imperial and metric systems depending on user preferences. You can update weather with just a click of a button.
You can view data either by consulting the system tray icon, in a compact mode that can be placed anywhere on the screen integrating it with the desktop or in a more detailed view with access to all information comprehensively displayed.
Are you going out for lunch - Do you need that umbrella? Do you want to plan that fishing trip with your office buddies? What are you wearing tomorrow morning to work? Just look down at your taskbar and click your mouse, you have access to current weather conditions in your area along with extended forecasts, and severe weather warnings if any.
You can set it up to recheck conditions automatically under a user defined number of seconds, display weather warnings, change forecast font, use a proxy with authentication details and more.
