We all know how annoying it can be sometimes when we have to juggle with multiple windows and tabs at the same time. Instead of making complicated configurations to your web browser, you'd better use a tab specialized browser add-on to help you easily manage all your tabs. Such a specialized tab manger add-on is the Tabkeys extension that works on the Safari web browser.
The handy Tabkeys add-on will allow you to assign custom keyboard shortcuts for common tab actions, thus helping you to effectively manage all your tabs and complete your tasks, in an easy and quick manner. Al you have to do is to download the application either from the developer's site or directly from within Safari's extensions page.
You are granted an extensive control of the tabs management through the use of customizable hotkeys. For each tab action that you may need, you may assign up to 3 characters as shortcuts. You can also easily assign lowercase or uppercase letters for different functions. Although, all character keys are supported in combination with Control, Shift and Alt, the special keys (Home, PageDown, Arrow keys, etc) are not.
Another useful option is that you can select which tab becomes active when you close another tab using the hotkey. You can configure the browser to automatically revert to the left tab or the right tab so that you may close unnecessary tabs and instantly return to your original tab to complete your tasks.
A great feature provided by the Tabkeys application is that you can define any number of web addresses with specific hotkeys. This helpful feature enables you to define hotkeys for bookmarked pages as well. If you assign a hotkey to a web address, the smart Tabkeys application will automatically open the address in a new tab so that you can have instant access to your pages of interest.
If you take into account the fact that this tool is a freeware then there is no reason left why you shouldn't give it a try.
