What is ooVoo ?

ooVoo provides a powerful multi-platform application developed with the purpose of enabling users to have video calls over the Internet. With ooVoo you can stay in touch with your family and friends no matter the distance; all you need is an Internet connection and a webcam. You can also see the other person(s) if you don't have a webcam. The utility provides high quality audio and video communication and supports both landline and cell phone calls. It features a beautifully designed, intuitive interface and should be fairly straightforward to use for everyone.

Main Features and How to Use ooVoo

As soon as you install ooVoo, proceed to log in. If you do not have an account, simply create one from the log in interface. Start adding up contacts; you can do so in multiple ways as follows:

- Import Contacts - friends already registered to ooVoo can be searched for and added.

- Invite your friends - with ooVoo you can invite friends on Facebook, using Skype, email contact, a friend by instant messaging.

- Search for ooVoo users - all you have to do is click the Add Friends button from the main interface window or simply select Find Friends from the Contacts menu. If you already know the person, then input the name, ooVoo ID, or email address used when registering in the field. You can include part of the ooVoo ID or display name (such as the first 3 or more characters).

- Add contacts to your phone book - you can easily add or edit phone contacts in your ooVoo phone book. Your phone book entries are saved on a server which is helpful when using your phone book on different computers and it's also backed-up.

- Import phone contacts from Outlook - ooVoo provides support for importing Microsoft Outlook contacts.

Now that you have added friends to your contacts list, you can manage them comprehensively by sorting, editing, renaming, blocking, using groups. Many more actions are available to provide complete control over how contacts are displayed.

You can call friends that are not registered on ooVoo (Skype users); call friends using Skype directly from the main panel. By default double clicking on a contact will trigger a video call. You can send a link to your friends to call you on ooVoo even if they do not have ooVoo installed on their computer. Sharing the desktop is also available for ooVoo users.

ooVoo allows multiple users to chat at the same time using video chat meetings. You can do so by sending your video chat room link to your friends or embed the video chat room into a website using a widget.

Not only can you can take part in video chatting but also record video messages and send them by email. You can also receive and respond to them, playback and manage them.

You can easily send, receive and manage files to/from your contacts (this is available for 20 files at a time with a limit of 5MB to 25MB for each file depending on your plan). When a file is transferred, it will be compressed and decompressed so it can be sent/received as fast as possible.

Like most applications of its kind, ooVoo also allows users to change their status according to mood/needs as well as avatar.

Note that most features are free of charge but if you require access to premium features such as unlimited HD video chat with more video windows, no ads, phone minutes you need to consider buying a monthly plan / pay credits for phone calls.
