Nowadays applications tend to have a rather annoying tendency of gathering at startup and with more programs you install, boot time takes longer and longer. However boot time may be the least of your concerns as malware shares the same habit. Removing an application from running at startup takes some registry tinkering or the use of msconfig; if you need a straightforward tool to do it, you may want to try NotRun.
Standing at little over 400 KB, NotRun is a lightweight utility that helps users prevent certain pesky applications from running at startup. It has a robust and intuitive graphical user interface making it quite straightforward to use.
NotRun's functionality is simple enough, all you have to do is point out to the disk location of the file and press Ok. As soon as you do, the application is entered into the list; you can now repeat the above for more programs. For an application you wish to remove from the list, simply select it and press Delete. You can also setup a password for NotRun in order to restrict user access.
As for customization, users can change the font color used of the NotRun graphical user interface.
As seen, NotRun requires very little in terms of know how; it is tailored for any type of user looking to get rid of stubborn startup applications.
NotRun is compatible with multiple Windows systems; note that for Vista and 7, administrator privileges are required. The utility is completely Free so go ahead and try it out.
