nomacs is a free image viewer for windows and linux systems, which is licensed under the GNU Public License v3.
Despite the fact that nomacs is small, fast and lightweight, it is capable of handling pretty much all the most common image file formats.
One of its main features is the possibility to easily synchronize multiple viewers. The synchronization of viewers running on the same computer or via LAN is possible. This synchronization function enables you to easily compare various images and discover the potential differences (e.g. schemes of architects to show the progress).
Besides the fact it supports the most common picture file formats, including PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF, PPM, XPM, XBM, ICO, PBM, PGM, NEF, CRW, ARW, CR2, nomacs can also display the EXIF information for each picture, where the metadata exists.
Fast and convenient thumbnail preview, as well as support for drag and drop are also available.
Other features are synchronizing multiple instances, synchronized zooming, synchronized panning, synchronized next/previous file, overlay of two or more instance (with changing opacity), synchronize multiple instances in the LAN, images can be sent over LAN connection, etc.
You may also easily change the transparency of windows, enable slideshow viewing with adjustable background color, choose to hide the menubar and toolbar, display overview while zooming and rotate the images.
