Originally, Mahjong was a Chinese four player board game that required a lot of skill, strategy, calculation and a certain degree of chance. There are several myths that state that it was invented somewhere around 500 BC by Confucius himself. One of the most interesting facts about this traditional version of the game is that it was banned in 1949 when the communists took control and the People's Republic of China was forged. The highly popular Western version of Mahjong is a totally different single player tile matching game that tests the player's attention and patience.
Mahjong Ace is a beautifully designed computer game where your goal is to advance through each level by matching similar "free" tiles. When you find a correct match the respective two tiles will disappear and when there are no more tiles on your board you can move on to the next level.
Mahjong Ace has some distinctive features that will really help you throughout the game and make it a little bit more interesting. In case a certain tile pattern gets tiring or too hard to focus on you will be able to use any of the seven different sets of tiles that the game provides and in case you get stuck you can always ask the program for a hint, or click "shuffle" and have the application rearrange the remaining tiles.
Mahjong Ace also offers some nice songs that are very similar to the traditional Chinese music, but if they are not your type, you will be able to quickly disable music and sounds at any time. As your score is related to the time it takes to finish a board you can easily pause the game and then resume it when you're ready to continue playing.
As an added incentive, Mahjong Ace will allow you to submit your score and compare it to other players from all around the world, thus enabling you to show everyone who is the true Mahjong Master.
