LOIC - the well-known tool that makes launching DDoS attacks quite easy.
Editor's Description
If you need to stress test a server, to learn more about the infamous yet ubiquitous DDos attacks, or for any other purpose that involve DDos attacks and not only (and, of course, on your own risk), this little freeware tool should make things much easier.

LOIC (an acronym for Low Orbit Ion Cannon - name inspired by the weapon from the Command & Conquer series) is a powerful, simple, open source network stress testing application, written in C#.

LOIC was initially created and developed by Praetox Technologies, but later it was released into the public domain.

LOIC is a tiny utility that offers a simple interface to perform a Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack (or when used by multiple individuals, a DDoS attack) on a target website, host or server by flooding it with TCP packets, UDP packets, or HTTP requests with the intention of disrupting the service of that specific host.

There's another side of this tool, that you should be aware of, if you're not yet - LOIC comes with a mode, "the HIVEMIND mode", which can connect your client to an IRC server so it can be controlled remotely. This is known as "a voluntary botnet" - meaning you choose to approve the usage of your copy of LOIC (and turn your computer into a "bot") as resource for DDos attacks.

In an end note, some say it's a scam or a useless software, others say it's a great tool. All in all, it's a free application downloaded by a lot people. Anyway, you should only download this at your own risk, and preferably, if you know exactly what you are doing and if you are truly aware of the potential consequences of your actions.

NOTE: Kaspersky and other security products will block the access and the use of this program. It is detected as containing potential malware, therefore - only download and use at your own risk.
