The HOSTS file located in the Windows folder is designed to map host names or nicknames to IP addresses. Whenever you have a lot of IP addresses to remember, you can use the HOSTS file, so instead of the IP addresses, you can use the easier names defined in the HOSTS file.
Host Administrator is a small application that manages your TCP/IP hosts file locally. The utility reads the HOSTS file and can also modify it by adding or deleting entries with the syntax IPaddress hostname.
