The use of hash algorithms has been thoughrouly extended into applications of multiple purposes. With the help of such algorithms, users can obtain a unique data fingerprints making it quite useful for tracking files altered by a third party application, hacker, or even detect duplicates. Here is an application that implements two well known hash functions to help you with your work - hashDigest.

What is hashDigest ?

hashDigest is a Windows tool designed to batch process a list of filse and output their hash codes or checksums. The application is able to output results in both MD5 and / or SHA-1 formats.

hashDigest features an intuitive and simple to use graphical interface divided into panels for your file input and hash code output.

Start off by adding files to the list. You can do that simply by selecting a folder containing all the files you want to process (can scan and add sub-folders as well).

You can filter out files by either size or extensions. Alternatively, simply process all files or only checked ones.

Select one or both algorithms (SHA-1, MD5) and press Calculate; results should display quite quickly.

In order to help you use these results with other applications or perhaps databases output is available for both CSV or TXT file types.

hashDigest is compatible with multiple Windows systems including 7 for both 32 and 64 bit versions. You try it out freely for a limited period of 30 days.
