If you are an enthusiastic gamer then you are certainly familiar with the lags and limitations of an old video graphics card. As with the CPU, the graphics card can be overclocked to enhance its abilities and if you want to test out your overclocking output, here is a tool created just for that purpose - FurMark.
FurMark is an application designed to provide users with a free means for benchmarking their graphics card with the help of fur rendering algorithms. The technology implemented is especially created to overheat the GPU and that's why FurMark is also a perfect stability and stress test tool (also called GPU burner) for the graphics card.
Benchmarking options are in place to offer a choice of multiple types of rendering: full screen / windowed mode, MSAA selection, window size, duration. The application features support for various OpenGL 2.0 compliant graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 5/6/7/8 (and higher), AMD/ATI Radeon 9600 (and higher) or a S3 Graphics Chrome 400 series with the latest graphics drivers.
FurMark is aimed at all overclockers and is used as a benchmarking tool as well as a stability testing application. While running, the utility can keep track of the graphics processing unit's (GPU) temperature and record it in a file. Users have a choice of either full screen or windowed mode, resolution size and more.
Choose between time or frame based benchmarking parameters.
The application has been tested extensively on multiple Windows systems with various hardware configurations as follows: Core 2 Duo 8400 / 2048M DDR3 / Windows XP SP2 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 / Forceware 186.18, AMD X2 3800+ / 2048M DDR2 / Windows XP SP2 / HIS Radeon HD 4850 / Catalyst 9.6.
