So considering that scenarios where hackers break into your PC by using cookies, and access your computer's information is more than casual , or losing data to a hardware malfunction which happens more than we like to admit, what can we do to protect important information ?
Well for one thing you can give Folder Lock a try.
Folder Lock is a flexible, versatile software made up of a complete set of tools, all of which created to help you prevent the loss and theft of your PC's most sensitive data. With Folder Lock you can ensure the security of your files and folders using multiple methods, whether it is encryption, locking or backup on local and online sources.
Folder Lock provides a unified solution of security tools; within the same program you can encrypt data files as well as back them up in real time and store them to a choice of portable sources. The application allows users to lock files, folders and drives; you get to save your information into Wallets, permanently and securely delete files with the built-in data shredder along with wiping clean temporary files within your Windows operating system.
The implementation of the 256 bit Advanced Encryption Standard means your encrypted data will not be broken into. It is sufficient to protect classified information up to the secret level. Files are not only backed up but backed up already encrypted. Also both backup and encryption will be performed while you are modifying those files. All is done automatically, no manual decryption and or backup is needed.
Transferring data to the online server and restoring it back to your PC is securely done using a 128 bit SSL connection. Lockers can be extended in functionality; with Folder Lock you can convert these Lockers into portable devices by making them portable, executable files. Burn these files on CDs, DVDs or copy them on a USB stick and you have yourself another backup solution. You can access these files without having to install Folder Lock on a USB stick. Synchronize your data on multiple devices and retain complete portability.
If all you need is a local solution for protecting files and not very much interested in encryption, backup and portability, Folder Lock has a few more methods up its sleeve. The application allows you to prevent access to files, or hiding data altogether. This is a two way protection safeguard. Users can lock as well as hide files, folders and even entire drives without the need to move them inside the Locker. The items you choose to hide and lock will remain inaccessible even in the Windows Safe Mode. Disabling these protection methods can be achieved only by using the correct password input.
Another great functionality of Folder Lock is to provide a safe and convenient environment for storing personal information such as credit card, website log in, social security card, bank account details and much more. These are called Wallets and you may find them among the Folder Lock tabs. 27 categories are already created to allow you to comprehensively group up your most precious information. You can create passwords for each individual record, and on-screen snapshots of category and card information. All the Wallets you create are being encrypted so no need to worry that anyone will access them except you.
If however you don't want to protect information but delete it for good, Folder Lock has a built-in solution for that too in the form of Shred Files. With this feature you can shred and delete important files that you do not want anyone ever to recover. You can also empty the whole hard drive space to make sure that the files you delete are completely irrecoverable. You can do this over multiple shredding levels.
Your computer retains a history made up of all the websites you have visited, items in the clipboard, temporary files, recently opened documents, programs installed and much more.
