As we all know, disk information provides data related to your hard disks such as manufacturer, serial number, product ID and many more. However, S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) goes one step further and provides real time health parameters for disks helping the user in identifying and even preventing damages and data loss. Here is one little tool that employs the use of S.M.A.R.T. and other implementations to help us better get acquinted with our hard disks.
With a name quite suggestive for its purpose, DriveInfo extracts disk related information and displays it comprehensively.
The graphical user interface is comprehensively divided in two; the upper panel is where detected hard disks and their associated drives are being grouped complete with information regarding type, size, serial and status with the lower panel displaying more in detailed information depending on your selections.
For a particular hard disk, the user can access information about manufactor, product ID, firmware, serial, BUS type, ATA Standard, Transfer Mode and Version, size buffer and many more. S.M.A.R.T. parameters is where DriveInfo shines. For each entry it displays value, worst, threashhold, data, status, type and flags values. S.M.A.R.T. logs are also available. Information, VBR and MFT details are showed for drives corresponding each hard disk.
Setup DriveInfo to alert you if the temperature reaches a pre-defined value. Create reports in the HTML format with information about: controller, adapter, master boot record, device identify structure, S.M.A.R.T. data and logs.
From the settings panel you can change the font family, style and size.
DriveInfo runs unobstrusively in the system tray and will display the temperature of the your disk. The application takes very little disk space (300kb) and requires no installation; simply extract the contents of the archive and run the executable.
