DiskMark is a very simple and lightweight tool created to let you quickly, easily and accurately benchmark your disks and hard drives performance.
DiskMark also lets you easily configure many advanced options in order to determine exactly how your disks perform best and to determine the typical operating performance.
DiskMark comes with a simple, self-explanatory user interface. Basically, beside the options window, the only user interaction required is pressing the Run button.
The configuration dialog enables you to easily set the parameters of the disk benchmarking process. In the Options window you may easily select the disk drive to be analyzed, the set size, the rounds and the runs. You can also specify a path, such as to a network share in order to benchmark the speed of the connection.
The Set size parameter (the "Buffer" size) allows you to easily specify how much data will be written to the test file at one time.
Furthermore, the "Runs" is the place where you may choose how many times the benchmark will be run. Each run will allow DiskMark to average the performance of each run, therefore a higher value (25 - 100 runs) will lead to more accurate results.
Once the benchmarking had been performed you may view various useful data such as the average write performance, the average read performance, the disk time, the minimum and maximum values, etc.
A visual graph is also provided.
The testing speed is conveniently fast enough and the results are trustworthy.
Moreover, this neat and handy tool is also freeware.
