If you happen to own an English language keyboard but need to type characters specific to other languages, your Windows operating systems offers a few solutions but with their own shortcomings as follows: add a new input language from the Text Services and Input Languages panel which will allow you to have the English keyboard as well as the newly selected one. This however means you constantly have to switch between them depending on your needs and may often result in typing the wrong characters. What is Accent Composer ?

Accent Composer addresses a most ardent user need in a simple, effective and flexible manner. With this tool you will be able to define your own keyboard shortcuts as means for easier access to accented characters and other symbols.

Users get a full set of ready made pairs of sequences and associated characters, all with intuitive controls. You can however compose and input new ones depending on your needs. With Accent Composer users can add just about any accented character supported by the Windows fonts and for any keyboard; all you have to do is press (and release) the designated 'Compose' key (the right hand Alt key by default) and afterwards the desired accent mark followed by the letter.

As noticed, Accent Composer doesn't only work for accented characters but also symbols like ©, ¥ and §. The application supports the Unicode standard meaning you can user any of the 65,000 characters and symbols provided the font includes that particular character.

What's more, the utility also allows you to define shortcuts for larger character sequences such as phrases. Conveniently enough you can now use simple keyboard shortcuts instead of Copy and Paste actions for the same sentences. Works equally well when having to complete the same type of online forms over and over again.

Accent Composer lies unobtrusively in the system tray; you can enable and disable it from a pre-defined keyboard button or either the right click context menu. When the program is inactive the icon is red and when active - green.
