Love them or hate them, ants are here to stay; you may have spotted them on your kitchen floor, near a picnic basket or in your favorite clothes. In recent news, apparently they have just broken into our last line of defense: PCs.

Introducing 12 Ants, a free, cool, minuscule desktop application that sets out the start of the ant invasion; basically with the help of a few settings, you can have ants move across your screen based on a pre-defined behavior.

Users can adjust the movement speed, level of transparency and number of ants (3-42). Another cool thing about 12 Ants is that you can configure the little critters to stroll around based on your mouse cursor movement: follow, attack, flee from the mouse cursor or simply move randomly.

Tiny is a little of an overstatement as 12 Ants stands at just 16 KB of disk space. What's more, it requires no installation, simply download, extract the contents of the archive and run the executable. You can carry on a Flash stick or any other portable device. Also, it sits unobtrusively in the system tray while you get on with your work.

12 Ants is completely free to use so make sure you don't miss this one! All hail our new Ants Overlords!
